Greek tenor Nicolas Maraziotis is known for his diverse repertoire ranging from baroque to musical theatre and contemporary classical music. Nicolas approaches every performance with dedication, drive, and singular artistry.

Nicolas opens this season with a perfromace at the Aeschyllean Festival performing unpublished songs by the famous Greek composer Yannis Markopoulos in a semi-staged play “The Last Orphic Dithyram“. Following the success of last season’s Sakellaridis’ operetta “I want to see the Pope!” the Greek National Opera will go on a national tour and will return to the capital for a limited shows at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera. In February, Nicolas will commence his collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra in a rather alternative repertoire celebrating Elvis Presley in a solo tribute concert. Finally, he will close the season portraying Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata at the main stage of the Greek National Opera in a much celebrated rival production of Nikos Petropoulos.

The past season, Nicolas was engaged with three exciting productions. In October he sung the role of Jaquino in a concert version of Fidelio at Olympia Theatre Maria Callas followed by a new production of the world’s famous operetta Fledermaus by Johann Strauss II in the role of Dr. Blind under the musical direction of well-renowned maestro Miltos Logiadis.  Nicolas appeared once more at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera, interpreting the role of Adrianos in Sakellaridis celebrated operetta I Want to See the Pope!  staged by Natasha Triantafylli under the baton of Nicolas Vassiliou.

Past operatic season highlights include Testo in Monteverdi’s Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda directed by Pierre Audi under the baton of Christophe Rousset marking Nicolas’ house debut at the Dutch National Opera. Additionally, Anfinomo in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria with Camerata Armonia Atenea conducted by George Petrou, Schmidt in Werther, Arbace in Idomeneo, Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Protester in Z by Borboudakis.

Musical Theatre highlights include Freddy Eynsford-Hill in Loewe’s My Fair Lady, Christopher the Teacher in the much acclaimed production of Yorgos Dousis’ The Magic Pillows based on Eugene Trivizas fairytale, Dimitri in Abazis’ Prince Ivan and the Firebird,  Maurice the Crow in Alkis Baltas’ new opera for children Fricadela, Starbuck in Papadimitriou’s Moby Dick adapted by Melville’s epic novel and staged by Yiannis Kakleas, and Nikos in Paraskakis’ Strella.

Theatrical works include James in a new and intriguing stage play Marshall Plan and a path of perspectives written and directed by Natasha Triantafylli presented at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, and Anthony Candolino in Terrance McNally’s famous Masterclass.

Nicolas holds a BA (Dual Hons) in Music & Music Technology from Keele University and a (MMus) Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservartoire of Scotland. During the season 2012-14 he studied at the Patras’ State Theatre Opera Studio where he performed the role of Pamikos in Sakellarides’ operetta Sataneri on the Grand Finale staged production marking his debut.
